In the strategy Heroes of Might and Magic-3, the capture of as many cities as possible by the hero is one of the intermediate tasks of the game. A city with a "Fort" level defense has defensive structures: a moat and walls. However, there are no shooting loopholes on the walls of the fort, and the attacking troops only need to destroy the guard garrison.
Instructions
Step 1
Before the siege of the fort, estimate the strength of the garrison standing in the enemy city. Other things being equal, consider the protective walls on the battlefield. So, overcoming the moat on foot takes away the lives of a group of troops, comparable to inflicting damage of 100-300 health points, depending on the experience of the hero and the defense of the city.
Step 2
If there are arrows in the army of the fort and their number allows the garrison to successfully attack the attackers, the enemy troops may not leave the defensive fortifications. In this case, the siege of the fort becomes more difficult. Your army can suffer significant losses in the absence of the expert level of the Ballistics skill.
Step 3
Get this secondary skill when the hero reaches the next experience. Maximize the character's skills in this area. Thus, during the siege of the fort, you will have a significant advantage when attacking the city walls.
Step 4
From the first steps of the siege of the fort, shoot the gates of the city with a ballista. Your goal is to open a passage in the wall where there is no protective ditch. The Ballistics Expert Skill allows you to break through a gate with one or two direct hits. In the absence of this skill, overcome the walls with flying monsters and destroy the garrison troops with shooting groups of your troops.
Step 5
While waiting for an opening under the walls for the passage of the rest of your armies, do not forget to take protection for them every time you skip a turn. This will allow troops to receive less hit points when attacking from the side of the shooting garrison.
Step 6
If you have the "Blindness" spell in your hero's arsenal, cast it on enemy shooters. Immobilizing armies will give you time for the main forces to pass and initiate hand-to-hand combat. Try to avoid getting your troops on the line of the defensive moat. Otherwise, you will receive not only a retaliatory blow, but also a penalty - the loss of the turn of the affected monsters.
Step 7
Spend during the siege magical support of the attacking armies with spells: "Heal", "Haste", "Blessing", "Prayer", "Restoration", "Clone". The last three spells are meaningful only if the hero has the secondary skills of earth, air and water magic of an expert level. This will allow you not only to successfully complete the siege of the fort, but also to carry it out with minimal losses.
