Feeder tackle is one of the most popular inventions for the successful catching of river and lake white fish: crucian carp, roach, bream, borer, carp and many others. In order for the catch on the feeder to be really rich, it is necessary to be able not only to accurately throw the feeder, but also to properly prepare the bait mixture.
For successful fishing with a feeder, you need to generously feed the selected area of the reservoir, because the more bait there is at the bottom, the higher the probability of a bite. The main task of a fisherman practicing this fishing method is to keep a school of fish in a certain place for as long as possible.
The basis of feeder bait
Most (about 60% of the total volume) of the feeder bait should be ingredients, the smell of which lures the fish to the place of fishing. As such components, it is quite possible to use bread crumbs, sunflower cake and crushed confectionery - waffles or shortbread cookies.
The main purpose of such ingredients is not to feed the fish, but only to interest them in aromatic food. Crushed rusks, cake and biscuits are all great treats, but the particles are too small to saturate the fish. Therefore, smelling the aroma, the fish immediately strives to the place of its greatest concentration.
The remaining 40% of the bait contained in the feeder is a kind of fish buffet and mainly consists of finely chopped potatoes, boiled or canned corn kernels, shelled sunflower seeds, boiled pasta and chopped red worms (maggots can be used).
The listed bait ingredients are not only a tasty aroma, but also nutritious food, thanks to which a solid school of fish can form in places of casting. The more fish there are in one place, the higher the likelihood that one of them will confuse the bait worm with the same bait worm.
Desirable but optional ingredients of groundbait
If fishing is done in places with strong currents, you can add a little binder to the bait, which is usually used as ordinary river clay. Clay adheres the bait tightly, thereby slowing down its erosion in water layers.
In addition to all of the above, you can add a few drops of natural flavoring - vanilla, hemp, garlic, fennel or anise essential oil to the feeder bait. These aromas not only appeal to fish, but also help to awaken their appetite.
Some fishermen add ingredients to the bait that create "mud" in the water, thereby attracting fish to the fishing area. Cocoa powder, egg powder and even instant coffee can be used as such components.
