Skirt or trousers

Bellidans, like no other direction of dance art, needs a certain entourage. And fabrics help to create the image of a charming oriental beauty: flowing, translucent, with an abundance of sparkles and tints of color, they flow in the rhythm of movements and make them even more attractive. The main detail of such a suit, of course, is a skirt or wide trousers.

The skirt for oriental dances should be long enough to effectively emphasize the dancer's movements, and also loose enough so as not to interfere with her during the performance. There are several traditional models. The simplest of these is the "sun". There are skirts consisting of two fabrics and also of separate strips of fabric. Quite narrow options with one or several cuts, as well as those with a lush bottom, also look interesting while dancing. In a word, each dancer has the opportunity to choose a style that most favorably emphasizes her figure. Perhaps one thing unites various models of skirts: traditionally they have a rather low fit and are worn on the hips, leaving the belly open.

Wide trousers made of light fabric can also be used as an element of a stage costume for performing belly dancing. Traditionally, they are quite wide and are sometimes also multi-layered. A combination of lower trousers and an upper transparent light skirt is also possible.

Top of the suit

As the upper part of the costume for oriental dances, you can use a specially adapted bra, open to some extent (depending on the characteristics of the figure and the desire of the dancer), as well as a short, tight-fitting T-shirt like those traditionally worn under a sari (choli).

As a rule, the bodice is decorated quite brightly. For these purposes, beads, sequins, embroidery, pendants and chains can be used. In any case, it is customary to leave the area of the waist and abdomen open or connect the lower and upper parts of the suit with a transparent mesh.

Belt

The main accessory in a belly dance costume is traditionally a belt. As a rule, it is made wide enough, richly decorated with embroidery, beads, sequins and worn over the skirt on the hips. An additional decoration of the belt is various kinds of chains, bead threads, monistas, ringing and freely moving during the dance. This accessory helps to make the action more spectacular and effective.

Footwear

You can dance an oriental dance without shoes, or you can use soft leather-soled slippers without a heel. They are selected and decorated based on the basic concept of the costume. Such shoes do not hinder the dancer's movements, but protect her feet from damage.

Decorations

A costume for oriental dances is unthinkable without adornments. In addition to the belt and bodice, necklaces, bracelets for arms and legs, hairstyle accessories, headscarves, shawls can be used. Despite the fact that for an oriental costume the abundance of accessories is rather the norm than the exception, it is important that they all form a single ensemble and do not violate the overall harmony of the costume.
