The process of drawing images with a pencil is the basis of the artist's work, since at this stage the layout of the future image is laid, on which colors and shadows will be put in the future.
It is necessary
pencil, eraser, pencil sharpener, sheet of paper, workplace, good lighting
Instructions
Step 1
First, you need to choose a viewing angle, that is, from which side the skull will be depicted on paper. The viewing angle is chosen at your own discretion.
Step 2
After the choice has been made on which side the skull will be depicted, the general details of the skull are outlined with a pencil on paper. The details are applied with light movements, so that later they can be easily erased and changed.
Step 3
First, the axis of symmetry of the face is drawn in the form of a vertical line. Then on it are outlined, corresponding in height, the area of the eyes, nose and mouth, also in the form of lines, but already horizontal.
Step 4
After the zones of the eyes, mouth, nose have been outlined, the contours of the skull are outlined. At this stage, it is necessary to pay attention to the removal of the contour of the skull relative to the objects of the face. If you make the edges too close or too far from objects, you get a deformed skull. Therefore, the distance from the edges of the contour to the objects can also be marked with light strokes, referring to the sample.
Step 5
The next step is to apply the schematic contours of the eyes, nose, mouth area. At this stage, detailing of the parts is not required, so they can be depicted schematically - in the form of rectangles.
Step 6
After the drawing of the contours of the skull and objects of the face has been completed, you can proceed to its detailing. At this stage, it is better to start by detailing the face objects, and then the outlines of the skull, so that later you can change the outline of the skull in relation to the face objects.
Step 7
Detailing is carried out by drawing the contours of the eyes, nose and mouth close to the sample; at this stage, the resulting details are corrected with an eraser and a pencil until a satisfactory result is obtained. The detailing of the nose and mouth also occurs. Since the mouth consists of several parts - the upper and lower jaws, the stage of drawing the mouth can also be divided into two stages - first, detail the upper jaw, and then the lower.
Step 8
As soon as the work with the objects of the face is finished, we proceed to detailing the contour of the skull. At this stage, the curvature of the skull is corrected, taking into account the distance to the ready-made objects of the face.
Step 9
After completing the detailing of the objects of the face and the contour of the skull, you can proceed to the overlay of shadows. Shadows are needed in order to depict the volumetric details of the face and the skull itself.
Step 10
Shadows are applied in lines around objects on the face and on the curves of the skull to enhance darkening in those areas. Shadows are applied with a pencil with light strokes, but intensively. If the shadows are too harsh, you can blur them slightly with an eraser, erasing the harsh elements of the shadow, and paint them softer.
Step 11
After the work on the skull is completed, you can move on to the background, if necessary.
