Step 1
Cold water will not flow into the suit if it fits snugly around your figure. To cool down the body slowly, you should choose a suit of the right thickness. Wetsuits are most often made from neoprene and elastin. Neoprene is a microporous rubber containing tiny air bubbles. This leads to good thermal insulation properties of the material. The thickness of the neoprene wetsuit can be 3, 5, 7 and 9 millimeters. Remember, the thicker the material, the longer you can swim in cold water.
Step 2
The suit is 3 mm thick, suitable for spearfishing in summer when the water temperature is above 25 ° C. The 5mm wetsuit is suitable for swimming in late spring - early summer at a water temperature of 18-25 ° C. The 7 mm thick suit is optimal for late autumn - early winter (water temperature 10-18 ° C). 9 mm or more suitable for hunting in cold water in winter.
Step 3
It is preferable to use wetsuits for spearfishing, where the jacket and pants are worn separately. Pants are usually produced with shoulder straps, but you can often find models without straps on sale. The top of the pants should reach down to the chest and cover the lower back. The cut of the wetsuit can be anatomical or simple. With an anatomical cut, the suit consists of a large number of darts and inserts that provide freedom of movement in the bending zones of the limbs.
Step 4
To protect the suit from mechanical damage, it is duplicated with nylon fabric. In the most vulnerable places (in the area of the elbows and knees), the suit is additionally reinforced with ultra-resistant fabrics. When choosing a wetsuit, put the main emphasis on the correct size selection. Careful fitting will allow you to make the right choice. Large sinuses should not form between the suit and the body, as water will accumulate in them, and you will freeze. Most often, blisters collect in the chest, lower back and underarms. Please note that the suit should not stress the neck too much. Otherwise, when spearfishing, you will get nausea, dizziness and even fainting.
