Instructions

Step 1

In order to draw a natural looking tree with foliage, you first need to understand how to depict the tree trunk itself, its branches, but without leaves so far. It is known that the trunk diameter gradually decreases with increasing height. Branches of medium thickness extend from the trunk, and from them, in turn, very small and thin branches branch off. In addition, it also happens that a large trunk diverges into several thinner trunks.

Step 2

Now you can go directly to drawing. Following the above principle, draw the main trunk first. Then draw the thickest branches. Now draw thin branches. When doing this, try to use the minimum amount of paints. Try mixing them on canvas. Then everything will look the most natural.

Step 3

An array of foliage can be depicted on paper in various ways. Most often, the main parts of the tree crown are drawn with fairly large strokes. Then some details are simply done. It is better to start detailing with the farthest leaves, which practically merge with the blue sky. In addition, do not hide all thin branches behind the leaves. Only part of them will be closed, while the other part will be visible through the foliage. The color of the leaves can be obtained from a mixture of viridian with a drop of ultramarine and burnt umber. To create shaded areas, add a little more ultramarine and ivory to the mixture.
