When starting to create a work, any author wants to be appreciated. But is it possible to deduce the rules, observing which, your novel will turn out to be a genius and will be successful with readers?

Instructions

Step 1

Think about what is the main idea of your piece? Perhaps you want to write that love can go through all the trials, or that illegally earned wealth will not make a person happy. After you have set the main theme of the work, you are obliged to reveal it in the pages of the novel.

Step 2

If you decide to write a novel, you probably already have a plot outline: some turns of events have been invented, the image of the protagonist has been created. Create a kind of outline by writing down the main events in the order in which they will occur in the book. In the same synopsis, you should also indicate the little things that will be important for the plot: here are two thieves stealing a handbag from the heroine, in which there was a piece of paper with the address of the main character, which is why she could not contact him for the next three chapters.

Step 3

Successful characters are already half of a successful novel. The reader prefers that the hero was somewhat exaggerated: he had a brighter appearance, more vivid emotions in comparison with the suffering of a statistical citizen. He dreams more, fights more often and travels, if he is dark-haired, then burning, if red, then fiery. At the same time, it must be so well spelled out that people believe in it. Laos Egri, author of The Art of Creating Dramatic Works, distinguishes three facets of the character: physiological, sociological and psychological. This means that you need to describe the hero's appearance: height, skin color, hair length, scars and moles, indicate in what environment he grew up, with whom he was friends, how his parents raised him, and also introduce moral trauma and phobias into the text. In this case, you will have a good 3D character.

Step 4

Get in the habit of observing people and listening to their stories about yourself. Find out why your friend still broke up with her boyfriend, what reasons prompted the dentist to choose such a profession, which is why the waiter, who always served you friendly, is in a bad mood today. This will help you explain the actions of the characters correctly and logically. A good option for the author is to consult with a psychologist about the correctness of character (for example, a person who suffers from a mild degree of autism is unlikely to have many friends in childhood). The actions of the protagonist should be close and understandable to the reader.

Step 5

There must be conflict in the novel. The static life of the heroes, where they eat, drink coffee, go to work and walk in the park, will be of interest to the reader only during the first five minutes. The protagonist must overcome difficulties, work hard and successfully cope with problems.

Step 6

In addition to the external conflict, do not forget to describe the character's experiences, otherwise the picture will be incomplete, and the reader may not understand the character's motivation.

Step 7

The main villain should also be paid attention. Oftentimes, bad guys are even more popular than good characters, so in the novel try to explain to the reader how the protagonist's antipode came to such a life, and what pushed him onto the criminal path. It is important for the reader that the main villain is not inferior in strength to the positive character, otherwise such a work will not be interesting to read.

Step 8

The culmination is the critical point of the conflict and one of the most important moments in the work. Cowards become brave, scammers return money to the bank, ladies' men make offers to gray mice, losers get a big contract. If you write an unfortunate climax, the novel will be hopelessly ruined.

Step 9

The denouement is what immediately follows the climax (although some people are used to combining the climax and the denouement into one whole or considered synonymous). If at the climax the hero defended his honest name, then in the denouement you can show how he makes peace with his family, the girl returns to him, and the boss offers a promotion. A successful climax and denouement, where all the characters get what they deserve, will be an excellent end to your romance.
