Think of the famous Catwoman from the movie of the same name: a siren in black leather with a whip. Many find it exotic, sexy, and even tempting. But there is another point of view, the supporters of which are sure: the whip is a purely male weapon. But both those and others forget that weaving a whip with your own hands is, first of all, an art, and also a great way to organize your leisure time or meditate in the process of making a whip, even if it just replenishes your home collection.

Instructions

Step 1

Wicker part. The length of the braided part of the whip should depend on the height of the person, that is, if the whip is thrown over the shoulder, then it should not drag along the ground. Approximate length - 40 - 45 cm. The whip is weaved from raw leather (raw). It can consist of one, two or more braided knees, depending on the size of the leather you are using.

Step 2

Open it. Start by cutting the workpiece into 4 - 6 mm strips for the lower bend. It is desirable that the stripes are long and straight. Although it depends on the piece of raw material. If straight stripes do not work, cut with a spiral from small pieces. This is permissible. Indeed, when tensioned, the strips are aligned.

Step 3

Weaving. In each of the resulting strips of raw material, make small cuts to weave them like a "pigtail", threading one into the other. And so along the entire available length of the workpieces.

Step 4

The whip. Use a regular stick or one that is turned on a lathe, patterned and even, - whatever your imagination is capable of. Maybe you will never use the whip made for its intended purpose, but the realization that this work of art is made with your own hands will undoubtedly warm your soul.
