Taking photographs of dark objects against a dark background is quite realistic. The following describes how to do this using special photographic devices. In addition, for filming, you will need snout diffusers.
When photographing dark objects against a dark background, the first question is the design of the boundaries of the photographed objects in order to distinguish them from the background. Today there are at least two approaches to this:
1., thereby dividing it more clearly with the subject.
2.. The main point in the process of highlighting the boundaries is the hard directional light falling on the highlighted areas and nowhere else. Thus, it is necessary to understand what needs to be covered and what does not.
- a flash set at half the power characteristic, aimed at a white umbrella with a diameter of 70 cm, located next to the photographed subject.
is performed by a pair of flashes, adjusted to half the power characteristic, with the above indicated diffusers with a grating attached to them, with orange and blue light filters located below it. The flash units should be placed on the left and right sides of the subject, in front of the background. The control and synchronization of the flash units is done using a portable control panel.
The background is dark matter, located at a distance of one and a half meters behind the photographed subject. … If you place the subject near the background, you will get a reflection of the directional light of the main source, and the subject will not be completely dark. It makes sense to hang the background fabric further from the subject in case you need to get a clean dark background. The subject must also be positioned on a sufficiently dark surface.
Taking pictures with this approach does not require a lot of space. A photograph in the form of an illustration can be taken in an ordinary apartment, for example, in a living room, and a dark background material can be thrown, for example, on a TV.
