The curtain band is a dense non-woven fabric that has adhesive surfaces, either on one or on both sides. It began to be used as a decorative element several centuries ago. In addition, the curtain band, like the curtain, also has a practical function. It is the basis for lambrequins, which completely or partially cover the curtain rod.

Instructions

Step 1

Make patterns. The bando shape is drawn on the material. At the same time, observe all dimensions: the length and height of the gang, and mark all decorative bends. In order to sew bandeau (rigid lambrequins), you need to take a bandeau-pro (ready-made texture in rolls, 45 cm wide) or dense adhesive fabric (dublerin, non-woven and proklamin). An original option will look when the bandeau repeats the silhouette of some piece of furniture, for example, a carved cabinet panel or a headboard.

Step 2

Iron the selected fabric with a steam generator on both sides before starting to cut. Cotton and linen fabrics for decorating need to be soaked. Cut out the bandeau shapes (no allowances). Cut out the base fabric (2 to 4 cm seam allowances).

Step 3

Glue or iron the base fabric to the bandeau. This is done with a steam generator. The operation should be started from the middle, which will protect the product from possible distortions. Thus, any fabric will be glued in compliance with the parameters of the pattern. If you want to make an applique, it is better to use a thermobando with two adhesive surfaces. The trim pieces are then attached to the bando (grinded).

Step 4

Attach the pad to the gang. First treat the lining fabric to shrink. Then heat it over the bando and grind it, leaving a few millimeters from the edge for the piping. Decorative details made of soft fabric (de jabot, swagi, perekidy) are attached to the main product in compliance with the dimensions according to the sketch.

Step 5

Treat the top edge of the bandeau with special Velcro. Sew it to the upper allowance of the product. In this case, the indent from the edge should not be less than 3 cm, which will make the Velcro invisible on the bando. Attach the bottom edge of the Velcro by hand to the lining so that no extra stitching should be visible on the finished product. Decorate the bandeau with decorative brushes, cords or flowers from a variety of fabrics.
