All pruning work should be done in the spring, several weeks before plant transplanting or at the beginning of the feeding period.

In addition, you should know that young plants are more amenable to formation than adults. It is much more difficult to give shape to an already adult plant and the desired result is not always obtained. So how to properly form a ficus plant?
Step 3
Bush formation. Pin the main shoot of your young plant at a height of 13 cm. If the plant is large-leaved, 4 leaves should be left. After the shoots from the axillary buds have reached about 10 cm, the lateral shoots above the bud facing outward from the crown should also be pinned using the same principle.
Step 4
Wipe off all sections with a damp, clean cloth. It should be wiped until the release of milky juice stops.
Step 5
Sprinkle crushed charcoal over the cuts. Turn your bush in different directions towards the sun.
Step 6
Formation of the trunk. Take a young tree with a well-defined vertical trunk. Remove all lateral shoots without exception on the trunk all the time, while leaving the 4 upper ones. Removal should be carried out until the plant gains the desired growth (table plant - 35 cm, floor plant - 80-90 cm).
Step 7
Pinch the top of the plant. Cut off the side shoots above the bud that faces outward from the crown.
Tie the stem to the peg for stability.
Step 8
Wipe the cut with a damp cloth. Distribute light evenly over the entire plant.
Step 9
Formation of a longline trunk. Take an adult ficus tree with a well-defined vertical stem. Pin the plant. Divide the crown into 3 parts as you like. In this case, the first and third levels will be with leaves, and the second is a bare distance between them.
