It's nice to pamper your pets. Create an atmosphere of comfort for them. Despite the abundance of offers on the pet goods market, I want to make something for my pet myself. It can be a cozy cat house of the size required for a pet. It is not difficult to make it. And he will delight you and your pet.
It is necessary
- - foam rubber (3-4 cm thick);
- - glue (superglue);
- - fabric (artificial fur);
- - sewing accessories;
- - sewing machine.
Instructions
Step 1
Make a house pattern. To do this, draw a square with sides of 40 centimeters on a piece of Whatman paper (you can use newspaper sheets). This will be the bottom of the house. The sizes can be changed depending on the size of your cat.
Step 2
Cut the bottom out of the paper using it as a template, cut another square of the same size. From this square, make a wall pattern. To do this, measure 15 cm from the bottom edge. Draw the vertical axis of the square. Connect a straight line between the 15 cm mark and the middle of the upper edge of the square. Calculate the middle of the resulting line and step out from the middle 3-5 cm. Connect three dots in one move (as illustrated in the photo). Fold the pattern in half along the vertical centerline. Cut out the resulting shape.
Step 3
Open the window to enter the house. Draw it on the details of the wall of the house as follows. First, draw a line at a distance of 7 cm from the bottom edge. Measure in the center 20 cm. Along the centerline, up from the bottom edge of the window, measure 20 cm. Draw a parallel line 10 cm long. Connect the edges of the bottom and top lines. Round off the side edges of the window in the same way as you did on the pattern for the side edges of the wall of the house. Cut out the window.
Step 4
Transfer the details of the pattern to the foam rubber (one part of the bottom (square), 3 parts of the walls of the house without a window and 1 part with a window). Cut them out of the foam with no seam allowances.
Step 5
Apply a layer of glue to the bottom of one of the walls of the house. Apply it with glue to the end surface of the edge of the bottom of the house so that the wall and the bottom form a right angle. Press down the surfaces to be glued. Wait for complete adhesion. Glue the remaining 3 walls to the bottom in the same way. Glue the side edges of the walls of the house together.
Step 6
According to the available patterns, cut out two sets from the fabric (bottom + 4 walls). Moreover, for one set on each side of the parts of the house, make allowances for seams by 2 cm. And for the second 5-6 cm.
Step 7
Fold the parts in the correct order and sew them together on a sewing machine, retreating from the edges of the parts by 1, 5 - 2 cm. Thus, you will have an inner and outer cover for the house. Accordingly, the outer cover will be larger than the inner one. Leave the edges of the windows on both covers unstitched.
Step 8
Insert the inner cover into the house through the window, aligning it with the foam blank along the side edges. Also align the top cover along the side edges of the house. Using a long needle and thread, fasten the upper corners of the inner and outer covers through the foam of the house. Fix the corners of the bottom and, if necessary, the sides of the house in the same way. For the convenience of carrying the house, you can sew a loop handle sewn from the same fabric to the upper corner.
Step 9
Align the window sides of the inner and outer covers. Sew them together. It can be sewn with a blind stitch, or it can be sewn over the edge. As a result, you should not have any open areas of the foam rubber.
