Candlesticks and candles, key chains and figurines, snowflakes, Christmas decorations and garlands - all these winter crafts can be made with your own hands with your children. Moreover, for their manufacture there is always material that takes up extra space on the shelf and is no longer needed for a long time.
Time rushes by very quickly. Winter and the beloved New Year holiday are just around the corner. Very soon, teachers and educators will start asking children to make winter crafts for school.
This is where the real headache for parents begins. What to do? Of what? How?
You can make New Year's crafts from improvised means that are available in every home. Such crafts most often do not require financial costs, and if they do, they are absolutely minimal.
So, what can you make with your own hands on a winter theme?
Snowman
If a little white yarn is lying around at home, then you can make an excellent keychain in the form of a snowman from pompons.
To do this, you need to wind up two pom-poms of different sizes and tie together, glue a hat made of paper or fabric, beads instead of eyes. The nose can also be made from yarn, beads, or paper. It remains to attach a thread or chain. The keychain is ready.
You can make a figurine - a snowman from salt dough or cold porcelain.
For salty dough:
- 1 glass of salt
- 1 cup flour
- water
Preparation:
Mix flour and salt, add enough water so that the dough is kneaded soft and plastic like plasticine.
You can mold a snowman of any size and in any position from the dough. It all depends on the imagination of the master. You can also blindfold a scarf, hat, or headphones. Leave to dry completely (preferably for a day).
After the snowman is dry, you can paint it with paint and cover it with clear varnish to keep it dry.
Christmas candle
Are the remains of paraffin candles littered at home? They can also be used.
All the rest of the candles must be crumbled with an ordinary knife into a metal container and melted over low heat. It is important to remember that paraffin is highly flammable, therefore safety precautions must be followed when working with it.
Prepare a container (non-combustible) in advance. For example, a coffee cup, glass or baby food jar.
Take ordinary sewing thread and twist a flagellum out of them. Attach one end of the harness to a small metal weight (you can take a nut). Lower the weight into the prepared container and, holding the other end of the tourniquet (so that it is approximately in the center of the container), carefully pour out the melted paraffin.
To prevent the container from bursting, the paraffin must be poured in a thin stream, putting something metal (a knife or a spoon) under it. Leave to harden. When the paraffin has hardened, the container can be decorated.
If the container is chosen transparent, then before pouring paraffin, you can attach spruce branches, berries and other decor to the sides.
Christmas candlestick
You can make a beautiful candlestick. He will always come in handy. After all, on winter evenings, lit candles add coziness.
You can make a candlestick from a champagne glass. To do this, take a piece of thick cardboard, turn the glass over on it and circle it. Cut out the resulting circle and glue it to the neck of the glass, after placing any decorations in it. The candlestick is ready.
