It is necessary

  • - fabric with a crush effect (or non-crease) - for a sun skirt - about 5m, for a cone skirt - about 3m;
  • - cotton fabric for lining - 1m;
  • - threads in the color of the fabric.

Instructions

Step 1

A dress with a balloon skirt is very problematic to iron. Use a fabric that is not wrinkled or wrinkled with a crush effect for sewing. For example, take crinkled taffeta.

Step 2

Cut a tapered skirt out of the fabric. If you want a fluffy balloon, open up the sun skirt. If you need a not too fluffy skirt, limit yourself to a cone. Add about 30cm to the desired length of the skirt.

Step 3

A balloon dress must have a lining. The top of the lining is cut similarly to the top of the dress. The bottom of the lining is a straight skirt. Its length should be 10cm shorter than the finished skirt.

Step 4

Stitch the side seams of the skirt, gather the bottom edge of the hem to the width of the bottom of the skirt of the lining. If you also make the lining cut-off, then immediately stitch the bottom of the skirts. Now all you have to do is turn out the skirts, slightly shift the upper skirt to the side relative to the lower one to get beautiful waves and stitch it to the bodice of the dress.

Step 5

If you make the lining of the dress one-cut, then sew the top of the balloon skirt to the bodice of the dress. Now sweep the bottom of the balloon skirt and lining skirt. At the same time, slightly shift the upper skirt relative to the lower one - this turn forms those very beautiful folds. True, in this case you will have to sew the skirts manually, with a blind seam.

Step 6

If you sew a balloon dress from a fabric that must be ironed, you can assemble the skirt in a different way. Open the skirt to a quarter sun or half sun. Gather the bottom edge of the skirt. Baste it with blind stitches to the wrong side about 10cm from the hem of the skirt. Of course, it will not be quite a balloon, but such a skirt will also look very beautiful.

Step 7

You can make a small drawstring cuff along the hem of the skirt. Cut the skirt to about a quarter sun or half sun. Tuck the edge of the skirt about 2 cm. You will get a drawstring. Insert a lace or ribbon into it, tie a beautiful bow on the side. If this option does not seem elegant to you, sew cuffs to the hem of the skirt. Pre-assemble the hem of the skirt to the required width.
