New Year is a time of magic, when everyone can turn into a fairy, a prince, Little Red Riding Hood, Batman … But transformations by magic happen only in fairy tales. In ordinary life, this will require some materials, but first of all - desire and hard work. You can make spectacular New Year's costumes, including from what is in many houses.

Step 1
See what costume details you already have. For example, a tracksuit will suit Batman, bat, butterfly, flower, wolf, cat (with and without boots), chanterelle. Color is important. A Batman or a butterfly needs black, a flower needs green, a wolf or a bunny needs gray, and a cat or dog can be black, brown, or white. It is useful to look for an old umbrella with broken knitting needles, a shirt with a large collar, and a wide skirt.
Step 2
You will need an old umbrella for a Batman costume, bat or butterfly. Batman needs black, a mouse can have gray or brown, and a butterfly can have a colored one. Remove the umbrella from the needles and carefully open one seam. Remove the threads. Most likely, the allowances have already been overcast, but if not, overlock them or sew them by hand with a buttonhole seam. Cut out the neckline and overcast too. Sew to the bottom corners of the toe loops. You can also make a couple of elastic loops so that the "wings" are attached to the elbows. The bat cloak is ready. To make a butterfly costume, find the middle of the raincoat, draw a straight line with a small line and make a large stitch along it. Pull the raincoat up by tucking it in nice cross ruffles. It remains to make masks. For bats, for example, a black balaclava, to which erect ears are sewn, is suitable. For a butterfly, you can simply make a headband with antennae.
Step 3
An almost universal part of the costume is a knight's cloak. It will suit both the prince and the Puss in Boots, and the fairy, and the musketeer. Such a cloak is cut in about the same way as a half-sun skirt. Measure the length of the garment and the circumference of the neck. Calculate the radius of the groove by dividing the neck circumference by 6, 28. Fold out the cut (you need 2 lengths of the product, plus 15 cm for the groove and processing) face down. Find the middle of one of the edges. Draw a circle from this center, the radius of which is equal to the length of the product with the radius of the groove added to it. Draw a perpendicular from the mark. Set the radius of the notch on it. Draw the notch itself and cut it out, forgetting to leave an allowance of 0.5 cm.
Step 4
Cut out a drawstring. To do this, circle the notch and draw a parallel circle at a distance of 2.5-3 cm. Cut out the piping, leaving 0.5-0.7 cm allowances along all cuts. Fold right sides together, sweep and stitch. Unfold the piping to the wrong side and iron it. Fold in the second seam allowance, iron the fold, and sew the piping to the raincoat. Finish the cut and bottom. Insert the cord.
Step 5
Many fairytale characters need a lace collar, wide cuffs and bell-shaped boots. Make a pattern for the collar. Draw 2 circles from the same point. The radius of one is the neck circumference divided by 6, 28. Add the collar width to this measurement. Cut out the ring and make a cut in it. Bevel the outside corners. Circle the pattern by folding the white fabric in half. Cut 2 blanks, leaving allowances for all cuts. Press the seam allowances at the corners and outside edge to the wrong side.
Step 6
Insert lace or sewing between the layers of the collar, having previously laid them in gathers, and baste. Sharpen the details. Press the open seams to the wrong side of the garment and overlock together. Sew the collar to the white shirt. The cuffs and cuffs for boots are made using the same technology.
