In knitting, there are various patterns and knitting methods, and they all consist of two basic types of loops - front and back. In order to learn how to knit a wide variety of products with different textures and patterns, you need to learn how to knit purl loops in two common ways that are used by most experienced knitters.
Instructions
Step 1
With the working thread in front of the needle, remove the hem loop and insert the right needle from right to left behind the working thread. Use the knitting needle to circle the thread counterclockwise and pull it into the loop.
Step 2
Transfer the loop from the left knitting needle to the right knitting needle. This is the simplest purl stitch and looks like a knit stitch made in a standard, common way.
Step 3
From such purl loops, you can knit the fabric using the garter stitch technique - perform all rows with purl loops so that the fabric turns out to be voluminous and soft.
Step 4
There is also a second way to knit purl loops - this is the so-called "grandmother's" way. Remove the edge loop. The working thread should be in front of the left knitting needle, as in the previous method.
Step 5
Insert the right knitting needle from right to left behind the working thread into the hem loop, then place the thread under the end of the right knitting needle and pull it into the loop. Transfer the new loop from the left knitting needle to the right knitting needle. Such purl loops correspond to the front loops, knitted in the second "grandmother's" way.
Step 6
By combining knit and purl loops, you can knit the elastic and comfortable "elastic", which is an element of many knitted patterns. In order to knit a 3x3 elastic with purl loops, cast on 29 loops on the needles, and then start knitting the first row - knit 3 front "grandmother's" loops, then 3 purl loops.
Step 7
Alternate the front and back loops of three in a row, and moving to the next row, focus on the previous one so that the front loops are located above the front loops of the previous row, and the purl loops are above the purl.
