If you want to have a dove at home - a symbol of peace and purity - you don't have to buy a live bird. You can create a realistic and original pigeon using origami, the Japanese art of paper folding.

Instructions

Step 1

Take a 30 x 30 cm square of white paper. Fold the square along one diagonal line, connecting opposite corners. Turn the resulting triangle towards you so that the long side is the base.

Step 2

Bend the left and right corners of the triangle to the top, aligning them with it. Bend one of the corners and bend the center of the base of the lateral triangle, slightly going beyond the central line of the general figure, parallel to it.

Step 3

On the other hand, do the same to make the shape look like an elongated rhombus, from which little paper corners peep out.

Step 4

One of the corners - top or bottom, at choice - bend inward and then outward.

Step 5

Roll the resulting workpiece in half so that the corner that you folded in the previous step is inside the shape. Check if you folded the blank correctly and start making the wings of the pigeon.

Step 6

Fold the side parts of the figure - future wings - up. The wings should be bent so that the sharp beak of the pigeon looks out from the front. Iron all the folds with your fingers or scissors, and straighten all the folds of the paper.

Step 7

Now make a hook that you can hang the pigeon on. Use two metal paper clips and a small screwdriver or awl to make your crochet hook.

Step 8

Unfold one paperclip so that it resembles the shape of the letter S. Use a screwdriver or awl to carefully pierce the center fold of the pigeon near the head.

Step 9

Straighten the top of the unbent paperclip and place it in the hole you just made, then bend it back to hold the hook.

Step 10

Using a second paper clip, pin the bottom pieces of the pigeon together. Your paper dove is ready - hang it from the hook at home.
