The guitar is one of the most widely used instruments in the world. Without it, it is impossible to imagine either a big stage or a courtyard in the evening. But if specially trained people watch the pop instruments, then in the hands of an amateur the guitar sometimes begins to behave not quite decently. So, for example, the most common problem for amateur guitarists is unpleasant string rattling, even with the purest playing technique.
To understand why the guitar begins to rattle, it is enough to recall the structure of this instrument with a seven-hundred-year history. The modern guitar is generally divided into body, neck, and head. The head is called the guitar tuner. On the body there is the neck itself and the nut - a shelf for attaching the strings. In the case there is also a socket - a resonator hole. The frets and frets are located on the neck - you should pay more attention to them. A fret is a section of the fretboard with a length that will raise the sound of the string one semitone. There is a special formula that sets the exact fret values depending on the length of the strings. On the border of the frets, metal frets are strengthened in the neck, there are 19 of them on classical guitars to 27 on electric instruments. The main way to produce sound when playing the guitar is to change the length of the vibrating part of the string, in other words, the guitarist presses the string against the neck, or more precisely, against the fret nut. No matter how durable it is, sooner or later it wears out. Strands are the second most worn part of a guitar after strings; strings may not rattle musically at all, for example, due to the fact that a worn fret nut has come out of its socket. A few tenths of a millimeter may be sufficient. In this case, part replacement is not required - it is enough to adjust the height of the necessary sills. It also happens the other way around: due to wear, the saddles become too low, and during the game, the correct cut-off of the string does not occur. In this case, you will have to work on the fret. Another rattle defect is common on low-quality guitars, but is also related to frets. This defect is incorrect bending of the guitar neck, which is due to either stringing, or storing the guitar in improper conditions, or poor quality wood used to manufacture the neck. In this case, old Soviet guitars can be helped by a guitar clef and a keen eye, newer models can only be helped by a luthier - a guitar master. Rattling of strings is a very unpleasant phenomenon for those who appreciate music. However, the appearance of such a defect can be an excellent reason for a preventive examination of your favorite instrument by a qualified specialist. After all, the prevention of diseases is a guarantee of a long life for both the instrument and the musician himself, who cannot imagine life without music even in a walk-through courtyard.
