A skirt made of gussets always looks spectacular on a woman's figure, emphasizing the lines of the hips. Splendor is achieved without the help of a frame or multilayer lining, but by expanding the wedges that make the bottom line fly.
It is necessary
- - The cloth;
- - sewing machine;
- - threads to match the fabric;
- - rubber.
Instructions
Step 1
Measure the length of the future skirt from the waist to the desired location. Double the resulting length. That is how much fabric will be needed for the top of the skirt, and for the lining - 15 cm less. When choosing material for sewing, keep in mind that the wider the width, the greater the swing of the wedges downward, which will make the skirt more fluffy. Be sure to wash the natural fiber fabric before cutting. When choosing natural cotton or linen, do not forget to allow for shrinkage.
Step 2
Make a pattern. Measure the circumference of your hips, add 3cm to the resulting figure and divide the result by 8. Get the size of the narrow part of the wedge. Measure the middle and down to the height of the wedge, draw a perpendicular line. Draw a straight line from below at an angle of 90 degrees to both sides of this line. The bottom of the wedge should be as wide as the width of the fabric allows. Leave 1.5cm on each side of the wedge for seam allowances. When laying out the parts of the pattern, make sure that the share thread runs parallel to the edge of the fabric. When cutting out the backing, make the wedges 10cm shorter.
Step 3
Overcast the long sides of the gusset with an overlock or regular sewing machine with a zigzag stitch, then sew. Iron the seams. Do the same with the lining fabric. Overcast the bottom and top edges of the skirt. For the frill, cut the fabric into long strips of the desired width. The length of the frill should be twice the width of the skirt at the bottom. Pin it to the bottom of the lining, forming neat folds at regular intervals. Stitch in.
Step 4
Cut out a belt with a length equal to your waist and 10cm wide. Fold the belt in half lengthwise and pin it to two skirts at once. Sweep and stitch. To keep it in shape, insert a wide, stiff elastic. The top of the skirt can be decorated with pockets. Make a pocket pattern. After cutting, sew elastic bands on top of the parts. Then sew the already gathered pockets to the skirt.
