Step 1
To make a tambourine, shamans had to choose a tree from which the rim would later be cut, and an animal whose skin would be used to make a tambourine. The perfume was supposed to indicate the things they needed. For example, in some tribes the shaman was blindfolded and sent to the forest. Guided by the spirits, he sought out the tree he needed. The choice of the animal was also extremely important. After all, from whose skin the tambourine will be made, its owner will turn into that animal during shamanic travels to other worlds.
Step 2
Nowadays, few people will go blindfolded into the forest to look for their tree. But you still need to make a choice. Therefore, think about what breed you would like to make the rim for your tambourine. Perhaps you know which tree is right for you in terms of energy, or you just like it. Once you have made your choice, purchase a veneer from this breed.
Step 3
Take a keg or make a plywood cylinder. On this base, you will glue the rim. Wrap the veneer around the base in several layers until you feel it is strong enough. It is best to glue it with epoxy resin.
Step 4
Now you need to select the skin. Chances are you will not go to kill the animal, so you can purchase leather from the fabric department, shoe store, or atelier. Wet the skin, being careful not to get moisture on the rim. To do this, cover the areas that will be in contact with the skin with a plastic bag - later you can easily tear it off. You can plant leather on nails or glue.
Step 5
Now you can attach a wooden crosspiece to the rim from the back - it can also be glued or tied to the tensioned belts. For it you will hold a tambourine during the game. You can decorate it - for example, shamans painted on their skin a picture of the world in their mind. And forward - on a journey to distant worlds.
