The first step to creating clothes is sketching. The appearance of your future product will depend on how well you do it. Therefore, in order to sketch the clothes correctly, it is important to adhere to a series of sequential actions.

Basic drawing skills, idea of a future product, pencil, paper, paints, eraser

Instructions

Step 1

First, come up with an idea. If you cannot immediately imagine how your product will look like, then browse popular fashion magazines, take an interest in both the history of a particular style of costume (dress, etc.), and art in general. And when you visually recreate the sketch, use the knowledge gained.

Step 2

Decide what event the clothes will be for. For example, you want to sew something for every day, or this outfit is suitable only for holidays and other special occasions.

Step 3

Start sketching clothes by sketching a human figure. To do this, draw a vertical line, stepping back from the top and bottom of the sheet by about 2-3 cm, and make the appropriate marks.

Step 4

Divide the resulting segment into equal parts. Put the first mark at neck level, the second at chest level (so that the shoulders are in the middle of the second part), the third at the waist level, the fourth at the hips, and the fifth at the knees.

Step 5

Then draw the volumes of the figure, observing a number of rules. So, draw the head in the form of an oval with a sharpness (chin). When drawing the shoulders and hips, keep in mind that their width is approximately the same for women. And remember that the arms should be up to the middle of the fifth part of your sketch.

Step 6

Now "dress" the resulting shape. Start with large details, gradually moving on to items of clothing, which for the most part are just an addition and decoration. Better to use a pencil so that in case of a mistake you can always make corrections.

Step 7

Draw the side and back views of the product on the same sheet of paper. Also indicate what kind of fabric you will use when sewing. Based on this, select a material for coloring the sketch. For example, if it is a dense drape, then use gouache, and if flying chiffon, use watercolor.

Step 8

Transfer all the developments to the final copy. To do this, divide a sheet of paper into three zones, where there will be sketch images from the front view, profile and from the back. Find shoes and accessories that match your style. Your sketch is ready.
