If you love playing Heroes of Might & Magic, you probably wondered how to capture a fortress. The number of units and their number for the player does not play a decisive role here. So a citadel with only one tower is not difficult to capture, but if it is a castle with three towers, each of which has a catapult, the attacking hero can suffer serious losses. However, a competent tactical approach will help the hero minimize losses.
Instructions
Step 1
Attack someone else's fortress only if you have a powerful enough army, since you should not rely on a lucky chance here. Before the battle, you should arrange the troops so that the arrows and magicians are located on the flanks. Let the slowest-moving units stand closer to the center, opposite the gates of the city.
Step 2
At the beginning of the siege, the attacker's ballista is the first to attack. If you have the ballistics skill and can direct the ballista's strikes, destroy the gates of the fortress first. Skip the first move with all non-shooting units.
Step 3
Attack all shooting squads of the garrison with magicians and arrows. Use the hero to impose "Blindness" on the shooters or on the strongest non-shooting enemy unit.
Step 4
After the enemy completes the first move, use all your squads that missed the turn, attack the enemy units closest to you.
Step 5
To the detachments of the city's defenders, standing near the defensive ditch, approach carefully so as not to stop at the line of the ditch. Otherwise, your squad will take damage from protecting the fortress moat.
Step 6
If you have flying creatures, fly them over the city walls and attack the soldiers of the garrison. Let the arrows stand still and attack. The rest of the troops enter directly through the destroyed gate, avoiding stops at the ditch line.
Step 7
If you have free magic power, apply Haste magic to your shooting squad. Then your shooters will shoot first, which is very important. If you have enough mana, cast this spell on all your units.
Step 8
Shoot the remnants of the garrison at a distance, avoid close combat if possible. It is unlikely that anyone would like to receive a retaliatory blow at the end of the battle and lose part of the troops, when it is possible to shoot the remnants of the enemy army without loss.
Step 9
When the last detachment of the garrison falls, the fortress will be captured. Moreover, observing the main rules of attacking the fort, you will either suffer small losses, or you will not suffer them at all. Further, the main thing is to keep the city.
