You are very careful about beautiful and expensive things, but the irreparable happened and your stylish and fashionable bag has a torn lining. Or you have knitted or sewn a pretty bag, but it has no lining. Sewing the lining to the bag yourself takes some effort.
Instructions
Step 1
Turn the bag inside out and place it on the prepared lining fabric.
Step 2
Circle the bag so that the bottom lining is 3-5 centimeters larger than the bag, and the sides on each side are 2 centimeters wider. All this is necessary so that after washing the bag, it could be stretched by hand and filled with bags or dry towels to shape and avoid deformation when drying.
Step 3
Cut the lining symmetrically. If your lining has pockets, then you need to cut out two more pockets.
Step 4
Overcast the edges of the pockets with an overlock or zigzag stitch. To the side that is longer, you need to attach an elastic band and, stretching it over the entire length of the pocket, carefully stitch it. Then fold the elastic with the pocket fabric and sew again.
Step 5
Pin the pockets to the lining and sew them on.
Step 6
Fold the lining pieces right side up and sew. Remember, however, to leave the top of the gasket unstitched.
Step 7
Insert the finished lining into the bag and pin around the perimeter, bending over 1 cm allowances. Then hand sew the lining to the bag with discreet stitches.
Step 8
To hide a not very beautiful seam, you can sew a decorative ribbon or loose braid, lace on top of the lining. You don't need to do this if your seam is invisible and neat, but still, you see, it will be even better. You can also sew a zipper on the lining pockets for convenience, but each of you has your own preferences and wishes. The main thing is that now your bag has a new lining, and you will no longer have problems finding keys or little things that fell through a hole in the old lining.
