Not all skirt models are fitted with linings. Often they are simply missing. However, it is the lining that significantly improves the fit of the model on the figure. Therefore, if necessary, you can sew it on yourself.

It is necessary

  • - the cloth;
  • - skirt;
  • - scissors;
  • - threads;
  • - sewing machine.

Instructions

Step 1

Sew the lining cover. This is quite simple to do. The processing of this lining is carried out separately from the skirt, and the cover is sewn only to the belt line.

Step 2

Make a lining pattern; this is only necessary for the main details, not taking into account the belts, pockets and piping.

Step 3

If the lining needs to be sewn onto a wide, pleated skirt, cut it to fit the pattern of the straight skirt. Provide darts or small folds at the waist.

Step 4

If the lining is conceived for a skirt with a gather at the waist, make a pattern along the main details. And then gather the lining along with the skirt at the waist, pretending that it is one layer of fabric.

Step 5

If your skirt has one-piece pockets in the seam, exclude them from the pattern. There are skirts, the pockets of which have a tailored flank. In the future lining, it is necessary to take into account only the barrel, without a pocket.

Step 6

When cutting out the side cuts of the lining, remember that they should appear as continuous, straight lines.

Step 7

Calculate the length of the lining so that it ends 2.5 cm above the bottom line of the skirt.

Step 8

To make it easier to correctly place the lining inside the skirt, mark the edges of the zipper cut on the pattern using the markings.

Step 9

Carefully join the cut of the waistband of the skirt and lining and stitch the details together. Press the seam allowances back and forth. If the lining fabric is crumbling, process the edges of the cuts.

Step 10

Finish the bottom of the lining.
