Step 1
To knit an openwork bolero, choose a thin yarn, for example, angora or mohair. Manufacturers usually indicate the recommended spoke number on the label. But the thicker the knitting needles are, the looser and more airy the knitted fabric will turn out. To accurately calculate the knitting density, you need to make a sample of about ten by ten centimeters. Next, count the number of loops in the sample and divide by its width. You will get the number of loops in 1 cm. Multiply this number by the value indicated in the pattern. This will be the number of loops for the typesetting row.
Step 2
The desired knitting density of the openwork bolero model from angora is twenty-two loops and forty-four rows of garter stitch in a sample of 10x10 centimeters.
Step 3
Knit the bolero crosswise. Cast on the required number of stitches in two strands on circular needles No. 3, 5 (for example, for size S, cast on 84 stitches). Next, remove one thread and continue to work with garter stitch. After four centimeters, decrease one loop on each side. Do this four times every four centimeters for a total of 76 stitches. After eighteen centimeters from the start of work, dial 39 new loops for the sleeve on each side of the canvas. There will be 154 stitches in total.
Step 4
Attach a marker (you can use a pin or thread of a contrasting color for this), thus marking 28 loops on each side (98 loops will be obtained between the markers).
Step 5
Continue to work in garter stitch while sewing short stitches, work six rows on all stitches, * knit row to marker on one side, turn work, tighten thread and knit back row. Next, knit one row on all loops, turn the work, tie the row to the marker on the other side, turn the work again, tighten the thread and knit the reverse row. Then knit five rows on all loops *, repeat all manipulations from * to *, that is, six rows of garter stitch on the middle 98 loops and eight rows on each side on the rapport loops.
Step 6
After 80-82 centimeters from the beginning of work (including the sleeve), close 39 loops on each side.
Step 7
Continue working on the remaining 76 stitches, after two centimeters add one stitch at the same time on each side four times every four centimeters (for a total of 84 stitches). When the sleeve is eighteen centimeters, close the loops with two-fold thread.
Step 8
Fold up the bolero. Sew on its sleeves and sides. Moisten and dry the product by flattening it on a horizontal surface.
