Sometimes you want to surprise someone close and insert his photo into a beautiful frame - a vignette. Consider a case in which the vignette picture is not in PSD format, i.e. not a template for Photoshop.

Russified version of Adobe Photoshop CS5

Instructions

Step 1

Open the vignette image in Adobe Photoshop: click the File menu, then Open, select the image and click OK. Now, in the same way, open the photo that you will insert into the vignette.

Step 2

In the list of layers, which is on the "Layers" tab (if it is absent, press F7), double-click on the background. In the window that appears, immediately click "OK", and the background will turn into a layer. Activate the vignette image and select the Magnetic Lasso tool (hotkey L, switch between adjacent elements Shift + L).

Step 3

Highlight the space inside the vignette, where the photo will be. After you close the selection, its outline will take the form of "walking ants". Click Delete to delete this area.

Step 4

Activate the document with the photo and using the Move tool (hotkey V) drag this photo onto the document with the vignette. The photo will lay on top of the vignette, so in the list of layers move the photo layer below the vignette layer.

Step 5

Make sure you have the Move tool activated and use it to align the photo in the vignette frame according to your idea. If the photo is too large or too small, resize it using the Free Transform command. To call it, click the menu item "Edit"> "Free Transform" or click the hot keys Ctrl + T.

Step 6

To save the result, click the "File"> "Save As" menu item (or click the Ctrl + Shift + S hotkeys), select the path for the future file, enter the name in the "File name" field. If you are only interested in the final result, enter Jpeg in the File type field, and if you plan to return to work on this document in the future, specify PSD. In any case, nothing prevents you from saving the file twice in both ways. When finished with the settings, click "Save".
