Fixing a musical instrument is more like restoring a work of art than fixing plumbing or furniture. Take on this painstaking process, approach it with due attention. The quality of the repair depends on the sound quality and ease of play.

Step 1
For major repairs, disassemble the guitar. This is necessary so as not to damage whole parts. Remove the strings, unscrew the tuning pegs, separate the neck from the deck if it is removable. If you are repairing an electric guitar, remove the pickups and bridge.
Step 2
Replace strings. This type of repair does not require the first step. Unscrew the peg so that the old string loses tension. After that, twist it off the tuning peg. Pull out the plug at the bottom and remove the string. The new string is set exactly the opposite.
Step 3
Replace the peg if necessary. If the thread of one of the tuning pegs is broken, you will most likely have to change the entire set. Only for very expensive and rare guitars such things are produced in a single copy. In other cases, the tuning pegs are sold as a set. Take the unscrewed neck to the music store and work with the seller to find a suitable replacement.
Step 4
Cover the neck with a fresh coat of paint and varnish before installing the tuning pegs. This will mask the dents from the old mechanisms and give the guitar a fresh look. Then screw on the new set and tighten the strings.
Step 5
Remove dents and crevices in the case. When it comes to the electric guitar, such things are not terrible, they only affect the appearance of the instrument. An acoustic guitar can lose sound quality from too large cracks and chips.
Step 6
Check the internet for what wood your guitar body is made of. Try to find the same material. Using a file, adjust the fragment to the size of the chip, set it in place with wood glue. Use a plane or other tool to trim the material to the same size as the guitar. It remains to paint and varnish it.
Step 7
The hardest part is fixing the neck. The neck plays an important role in any guitar. If the neck is broken, tuning the guitar is meaningless. The slightest curvature of the neck distorts the sound. Find a perfectly straight stick to attach the bar to. Be sure to remove unnecessary parts. You can leave only the pegs, however, it is better to remove them so that the neck does not bend. Lubricate the neck with glue and press down firmly on the broken parts. Have someone check with your finger from all sides to see if the neck pieces fit perfectly.
Step 8
Attach the bar to the prepared tripod, leave to dry for 2-3 days. Check from time to time that the tree does not "roll" and does not bend.
