The float is an integral part of fishing. Its main purpose is to hold the baited hook at a certain depth, as well as signal a bite. A good float is the key to successful fishing. Therefore, it is so important to choose this small but very important subject correctly.
Instructions
Step 1
When choosing a float, remember that the stronger the flow, the thicker the float should be, the quieter the water, the thinner the float.
Step 2
The design of any float includes 3 main elements: a body, an antenna and a keel. The main characteristics and sensitivity of this or that float depend on their shape and material of manufacture.
Step 3
When choosing a float for fishing, first of all pay attention to the shape of its body. Elongated body floats require minimal effort to pull under water. Therefore, even a shy fish will not have time to throw the bait before you hook it. The bulbous-shaped float is useful for fishing in strong currents. Floats, the body of which has a teardrop shape, are considered universal.
Step 4
The main task of the float antenna is to signal a bite. Therefore, it should be clearly visible, have low windage and excellent sensitivity. When choosing an antenna for a float, take into account the condition of the water in which you are going to fish, and the degree of illumination of the fishing area. Floats without an antenna are used with volumetric attachments and are intended for catching large fish.
Step 5
Pay attention to what the antenna is made of. Steel antennas are difficult to see in strong light. But they perfectly signal not only about quick bites, but also about careful pulling of the bait. Fiberglass antennas are more visible, but they only work well in calm water.
Step 6
For fishing in windy weather, opt for floats with a plastic antenna. They have good stability and respond well to bites. Hollow plastic antennas are easily visible even in low light due to their large diameter. Floats with bamboo antennas have good buoyancy, but low sensitivity.
Step 7
The keel is an important part of the float design. Floats with short keels are able to quickly take a working position. They are ideal for fast fishing for small roach and bleak. Use a long keel float to fish in deep waters, canals, deep lakes and slow flowing rivers.
