Perennial asters delight with their flowering. It should be remembered that in the northern and middle regions, the varieties of Italian asters and shrubs do not have time to give full abundant flowering.
In the first decade of September, perennials (irises, daylilies, all types of phlox, etc.) can be transplanted or divided. When planted later, in the event of an early and snowless winter, many plants may suffer or die.
The end of September is the time for the preparation of perennials for the upcoming wintering. Faded inflorescences, stems and leaves are cut almost to the root, mulched with a layer of 3-5 cm of peat or humus.
September is the best time to plant spring flowering bulbous plants. Small-bulbous muscari, snowdrops, crocuses, and woodlands are planted first. Then comes the time of planting daffodils, lilies. Tulips are planted after September 20. All bulbs, when planted in the soil, are placed at a triple depth relative to their size; if possible, the plants are mulched with peat or humus.
