There are many different needlework techniques that allow you to create spectacular jewelry, clothes, toys and other things, and felting is especially popular among needlewomen. From soft colored wool, due to its plasticity and ease of processing, you can create a variety of items - beads, earrings, bags, brooches, capes, autumn scarves, toys and even house shoes. Felting is very easy to learn. To do this, you need to master two basic methods of felting: wet and dry.
Instructions
Step 1
Wet or damp felting allows you to create a product of any shape with any combination of colors - for this you need a flat surface (for example, a table), a piece of packaging film with pimples, a liquid soap solution, a mosquito net and, of course, special wool for felting in different colors.
Step 2
Place the wrapping film on the table with the pimples up, and lay the wool in small strands on the film. Lay the strands of wool on the film in layers - first horizontally and then vertically. Combine different coat colors to achieve the desired result. Remember that the finished product will shrink in size, so lay out the woolen outline on the foil that is larger than the item you want to make.
Step 3
After putting out the right amount of wool, cover it with a mosquito net and fill it with soapy water. Begin to gently rub the wool through the mesh - the longer you do this, the better the wool felts.
Step 4
Remove the net and turn the woolen plate over, and then continue felting by hand - rub and crush the future product between your palms, keeping an eye on the density of the workpiece - when the wool fibers are inseparable from each other, felting can be finished. Rinse the wool blank thoroughly in warm, but not hot, water. Dry the product, giving it the desired shape.
Step 5
You can also use the dry method for felting wool, which is more affordable and simpler than the method described above. You will need special felting needles, a foam sponge and wool. Take the right amount of wool in your hand and start chopping it off from all sides with a needle, giving the desired shape and knocking out irregularities.
Step 6
If you wish to felle the ball, use the needle to work the wool to form smooth, rounded edges. Using the dry felting method, you can create beads, animals, patterns on felt canvas and much more. Also, using the dry method, you can create a felt pattern on a silk cloth - in this case, you will get a valuable and beautiful product, which will have no analogues anywhere.
