The drum is a musical instrument that is usually bought for small children for entertainment, used in military parades or in special musical drum kits. But what should a musician do if a drum is out of order?
Instructions
Step 1
All drummers complain about the sound of the snare drum, which most often requires fixing (tuning, tuning). About him will be discussed. Remove the drum from the installation and place it on any soft surface. It can be a sofa, carpet, etc. Remember to repair (adjust) the drum on a hard surface, as you can damage and scratch the device.
Step 2
Start the installation from the bottom head: press the center of the head so that it “sits down”. After all, the plastic wrap should fit snugly against the edge of the drum. Hand tighten the bolts.
Step 3
Try hitting the drum and listen to the sound. In the event that, after the plastic shrinks, the drum sound becomes lower, you need to drag the plastic and seat it again. And then do the following.
Step 4
Turn all opposing bolts one by one half a turn. This should be done until the head is completely flattened, and tighten the bolts just enough to make the stretched head sound properly. In this case, it is important that the sound is emitted precisely by the plastic, which is tuned. To do this, it is necessary to drown out the second plastic, pressing it tightly to the surface on which it stands at the time of adjustment.
Step 5
Tighten the bolts so that the sound is the same near all of the existing bolts, that is, the same tone (pitch).
Step 6
Tap the head with a wrench as you tighten each bolt. At the same time, remember that if the sound of the bolt is low, then the opposite sound will be higher and vice versa.
Step 7
Tune the striking side of the drum. This is done in a similar way to the resonant side. Check periodically your drum, head and rim respectively for aging and wear, as this will distort the drum sound as well. Replacement should be done on time.
