From worn-out things, especially knitted items, such as a sweater, you can make a lot of all kinds of products that are needed in the household. Even fashionable, cozy and bright jewelry in a casual style can be obtained.
Bed for a cat or dog
Choose a sweater with or without a neck to make this item. Please note that you need an adult's thing, since a very small bed will be obtained from a children's sweater, into which a kitten, a puppy or a very, very small dog will fit. In addition, you will need:
- filler (synthetic winterizer or foam rubber);
- threads and a needle;
- cardboard;
- scissors.
Cut a circle out of cardboard to fit the future bed and insert it inside the sweater. Sew the neck by hand or sew on a typewriter. Stuff the body and sleeves fairly tightly with filler. Sew on the underside of the sweater. Wrap the sleeves in a circle and sew them together. Sew them over the edge to the bottom of the bed.
Sleeve for laptop or tablet
A very necessary thing, especially for those who need to carry gadgets with them, can be made from an old, but quite presentable sweater. In addition to it, sewing accessories, buttons and braid will be useful to you.
Cut out the product. To do this, attach the gadget to the bottom of the sweater and cut the piece along the outline. Fold the workpiece right side in, stitch on three sides on the sewing machine, leaving the piece unsewn from the elastic side of the sweater. Cut the cut with an overlapping seam. Sew a large decorative button in the middle of one side, and make a loop of braid on the opposite side. Decorate the cover as you wish.
Cover for a heating pad
A warm heating pad will not cool down very long if you put it in a cover made from an old sweater. To make it, you need a thing with a neck. Place a heating pad on the top of the sweater and cut a rectangle to fit. Sew on all sides, leaving the neck unsewn.
Sew along the neckline with large basting stitches with thick yarn, do not fasten the ends, but leave about 10 cm for the ties. Make pom-poms from leftover threads and sew them to the threads. Fill the heating pad with hot water and insert into the resulting cover.
Warm bracelets
Large jewelry is a hit of the season, and warm bracelets, which can even be made from an old favorite sweater, will decorate your outfit in the cool season, and from one thing you can make several completely different products. Take wide plastic bracelets. Measure their width and circumference.
From the sleeves of the sweater, cut out parts equal to the circumference and the width of the bracelet multiplied by 2. Fold the blank in half across and sew the cut with a buttonhole seam. Wrap a piece from an old sweater around a plastic bracelet so that the cut is in the middle of the inside and sew with blind stitches.
