An author's doll is a complex, but beautiful and creative hobby, in which your imagination and individuality are clearly manifested. It is not easy to create a doll with your own hands - and especially novice puppeteers experience a lot of difficulties when creating a face, on which the overall mood of the doll, its style, image, and of course, the atmosphere that it creates around itself largely depends. We will tell you how to correctly mold the face of an author's doll from polymer plastic in this article.
Instructions
Step 1
Having come up with the desired image, determine what size your doll will be, and accordingly determine how large its head should be, so that it will be proportional to the body in the future. If the doll is 40-50 cm in height, take ready-made plastic eyes of the desired color, with a diameter of 8-10 mm.
Step 2
Use foil as a base for the doll's head. From a large piece of foil, crumpled into a ball, use your fingers to form an egg-shaped shape that follows the contours of the forehead and pointed chin of the future doll.
Step 3
Crumple the foil as tightly as possible to get a solid enough piece. The back of the workpiece should be rounded, repeating the shape of a human skull, and the front should be flatter - here you will sculpt the face. Determine at what level the eyes will be, make two indentations in the foil and place the doll's eyes in them.
Step 4
Use clean hands to knead a piece of flesh-colored plastic. Flatten the plastic into a 5-6mm thick cake. The size of the cake should be larger than the size of the face. Cover the flat part of the workpiece with a flat cake.
Step 5
Free your eyes by clearing them of plastic, and gently paste over the remaining plastic over your face. Now start detailing its shape - shape the bridge of the nose, the upper and lower eyelids around the eyes, and then, applying additional small pieces of plastic, shape the nose, cheekbones, cheeks and chin of the doll.
Step 6
Use special tools to sculpt your mouth. Finish the oval of the face and carefully smooth out any irregularities. The face should be smooth, without corners and sharp depressions. Knead a second plastic cake and stick it onto the back of the head. Coat the seams by joining the back of the head to the front.
Step 7
The face is ready - now you just have to sculpt the neck, ears, and then, if necessary, fix artificial eyelashes above the eyes, and put on a wig on the doll. Put the finished head with a sculpted face on a stick and bake in the oven for the required amount of time.
