Mitts are simply irreplaceable if you often have to work with equipment in the cold. In this case, gloves cannot be worn, since you need to keep your fingers free. But mitts can also become an adornment of a woman's outfit - for example, in situations where gloves are required according to etiquette, and it is inconvenient to put them on.

It is necessary

  • 100 - 120g woolen yarn of medium thickness
  • set of 5 needles # 2

Instructions

Step 1

Knit mitts on five needles. First measure the circumference of your wrist and the length of the elastic. Tie a 2x2 piece of elastic and calculate the number of stitches. It must be divisible by 4.

Cast on the desired number of stitches on the two knitting needles folded together. Take out one knitting needle, turn the work over and knit one row with the front loops. Join the knitting in a circle and mark the beginning of the row with a knot in a different color. This will be the first spoke.

Step 2

Tie a 2x2 10-12 centimeters elastic band - depending on how long you want the mitts to be. After finishing the elastic, go to the hosiery. Work 4-5 rows without adding stitches. Add loops by making a reverse yarn over every 5 loops. Sew a few more rows with the knit.

Step 3

Make a hole for your thumb. To do this, remove half of the loops on the first knitting needle onto a pin (you marked the beginning of knitting with a knot). In the next row, cast on the same number of loops above the removed ones and continue knitting in stocking until the beginning of the little finger.

Step 4

Mitts can be knitted both as fingerless gloves and as mittens. If you are knitting like mittens, knit in a circle to the base of your fingers and another 2-3 cm, then close the loops. You can skip the next three steps, if you are knitting like gloves, knit to the base of your little finger. Add 2-3 more loops to the ring finger bridge and remove the pinky loops to the pin.

Step 5

The base of the ring finger is just above the base of the little finger. Divide the loops of the upper and lower halves of the glove into three and mark the places of the jumpers with threads of a different color. Knit a couple more circles with the front satin stitch, including in the row and loops of the jumpers between the little finger and the ring finger. Remove the loops for the ring finger, put 2-3 loops on the pin for the jumper between the ring and middle fingers. Work another circle. Remove the middle finger loops on the pin. Cast on 2-3 loops for the forefinger jumper.

Step 6

Divide the loops for the index finger plus the loops from the bridge with the middle one into 3 needles and knit in a circle 2-3 cm. Close the loops.

Step 7

Cast on 3 knitting needles loops for the middle finger plus the loops from the bridge with the index and ring fingers and also knit 2-3 cm. The ring finger and little finger are knitted in the same way.

Step 8

Return to the thumb hole. Remove the loops from the pin, take the required number of loops from the top edge of the hole. Spread the knitting over 4 knitting needles and knit 2-3 cm. Close the loops.
