Textile balls are simple to design and at the same time very effective. A ball made of colorful scraps will become a favorite toy for a child, and a miniature ball embroidered with braids and beads will decorate the Christmas tree, giving it a cozy warm style. There are many ways to sew a fabric ball. Basically, they are concluded in sewing several elements of the same shape, into which the surface of the ball is divided, and the most primitive balls are obtained from a piece of fabric with the edges pulled together into a bag.
It is necessary
- - The cloth;
- - cardboard;
- - pencil;
- - threads;
- - a needle;
- - scissors;
- - braid;
- - beads;
- - lace;
- - cord.
Instructions
Step 1
Prepare the materials necessary for the work. It is better to choose a denser fabric - satin, velvet, knitted fabric. Pick shreds of harmonious colors. It is better to start with two contrasting colors so as not to get confused when assembling the finished product.
Step 2
On a piece of cardboard, draw an equilateral triangle with a side of 5 cm. Bend the sides of the triangle slightly: from the middle of each side, retreat outward about 0.3-0.5 cm and connect these points with the vertices of the triangle with smooth arched lines. It turned out to be a piece of the ball.
Step 3
Trace the pattern with a pencil or fabric marker and cut out four pieces in two colors. If you are sewing a ball from more colors, then cut out the parts from different patches so that there are eight in total.
Step 4
Lay out the details by color. Sew two pieces of different colors. Sew the rest of the details in pairs, so that you get four absolutely identical two-color pairs - this is important, because when sewing a whole ball, you must alternate two colors correctly. You can sew either by hand, with a decorative overcasting stitch (for example, "Antwerp"), and on a sewing machine.
Step 5
Now sew the two two-tone pairs together along the sides to form a half ball. Do the same with the other two pairs of parts.
Step 6
Nest the two halves of the balloon face-to-face, matching parts of different colors together to maintain the pattern formed by the alternating colors. If you are sewing parts by hand with an overcasting seam, then fold them, on the contrary, with the wrong sides. Sew the two hemispheres together, leaving a small area unstitched.
Step 7
Fill the ball through the hole with any soft filler: holofiber, cut padding polyester, foam rubber or pieces of rags, giving it a round shape. Then sew the open area by hand.
Step 8
Decorate the ball by sewing ribbons, braid, beads on it, pasting beads or other decorative elements. From a thin cord or thread folded several times, make a loop for hanging the ball, and fasten it to the top of the toy.
