Modeling is a very common hobby that sometimes very respectable people are passionate about. Many people assemble aircraft models, someone reconstructs equipment, and we will try to make a model of a floating sailing ship.

It is necessary

Styrofoam, scotch tape, thin and long wooden planks, cloth, cardboard, paper and wire knife

Instructions

Step 1

First, create the ship's hull. Craft it all the way down to the ship's waterline from Styrofoam. In order to be able to secure the mast well, the height of the hull must be at least 5 cm.

Step 2

Using a cutter, cut the hull of the ship along the contour of the deck, sharpen the bow, then mow the stern and sides. To cover the ship's hull, use cardboard, after cutting out a template from it along the contour of the stern and sides. Watch out for the bulwarks. After applying the outline to the cardboard, cut it out along with the bulwark, slightly wider than the marked outline by about 7-8 mm. Cut the deck out the same way. Paint the cardboard sheathing.

Step 3

On the deck, mark the mast attachment points with crosses. For waterproofness, glue the casing with tape, leaving no unprotected places. Then glue the trim to the body using glue. Carve masts and speeches with a cutter from planks. Attach the yards to the masts with wire.

Step 4

The size of the mast required for manufacturing will be equal to the sum of the mast height (at your discretion) and the hull height. Grind the mast so that it gradually tapers at both ends, the bottom of it should be sharp. Cut the sail out of the fabric, it should be straight, and its width should be greater than its height. Fasten the sail to the yards with threads, making several holes in it.

Step 5

Stick the masts in the places marked earlier on the deck. Next, make a rudder (so that the ship sails straight), take a small piece of cardboard and stick it into the foam at the stern, according to the axis of symmetry of the ship, so that it looks out a little from behind, plunging under the water.

Step 6

If somewhere a little has not been calculated with the dimensions, and the ship on the water will roll on its side, then attach a small weight in the form of a bolt to its bottom on the wire.
