Instructions

Step 1

Assembled ship models are sold as separate kits or multiple issues of a special magazine. Details and instructions are often supplemented by the history of the ship's creation and the listing of its distinctive features.

Step 2

Read the instructions carefully. It describes all the stages of work, gives the names of the parts and their drawing or photograph.

Step 3

The assembly starts from the wreck of the ship. It is composed of a keel and frames. Then the finished frame is sheathed with stern and deck plates. It holds masts and sails, as well as small parts on the deck.

Step 4

The elements of the prefab ship are attached to each other according to the principle of puzzles and with the help of glue. Before gluing the parts, rub the places where they join with a fine sandpaper - this will improve the adhesion of the material and the adhesive. Take your time collecting items. After gluing, each part should dry completely, and it is undesirable to touch it at this moment - the parts may move very slightly, but this will be noticeable in the appearance of the finished model.

Step 5

Performing each stage of the work, check the instructions and photographs. In order not to confuse similar parts, they can be signed with a felt-tip pen and laid out in the order in which they will be needed during assembly.

Step 6

Check the correctness of each intermediate step immediately after completing it. Subtle mistakes at each of the stages may appear later, when it turns out that the details do not match. Correct any inaccuracies found immediately.

Step 7

After the ship model is assembled, you can paint it. Paints can be purchased together with a set or separately - in this case, choose acrylic for porous surfaces (if the model is wooden) or for plastic. You can restore the appearance of the ship using photographs of real prototypes, which are sold together with the model.
