Any athlete who is fond of skiing, both beginner and experienced, sooner or later faces the problem of transporting skis around the city, as well as on various trips. In order to successfully and comfortably deliver the skis to the track on which you are going to ski, sew a comfortable and durable cover.

Instructions

Step 1

For the material for the cover, prepare a thick and preferably waterproof fabric - for example, raincoat fabric or fabric for sports bags. You will also need two meters of a sling 2.5 cm wide, a buckle, plastic fasteners and two carabiners with 40 mm diameter rings. Choose a zipper so that it is 5 cm longer than the skis.

Step 2

Measure the girth of the skis folded together at their widest point, taking into account the size of the rear bindings, and write down the resulting figure (it is usually 55 cm). Cut a long strip 55 cm wide from a piece of prepared fabric.

Step 3

Spread a strip of fabric on the floor and lay it on top of the ski, and then mark with a colored chalk where the ski boots will be in order to sew the handle of the cover in this place - the boots are the center of gravity on the skis. Cut a strip 80 cm long from the sling, and cut the remaining part into two equal parts.

Step 4

Burn the edges of the line with a lighter so that they do not open, then insert the buckle into the line and sew on the typewriter, fixing it. Sew the sling for security several times with a regular or zigzag seam. If you wish, you can cut out the pockets for the cover separately.

Step 5

Sew a sling to the surface of the future cover, forming a handle for carrying it, stepping back a couple of centimeters from the edge of the cover. Sew on the short halves of the strap with buckles and rings as well, and then stitch the straps around the perimeter.

Step 6

Baste the zipper by hand on the outer edge of the fabric, joining the right side of the zipper to the right side of the fabric. Stitch the lock to the edge of the cover, about the width of the sewing machine foot, starting at the bottom edge of the cover. Then re-stitch the zipper from the front side to keep it strong.

Step 7

Sew both halves of the long zipper in this way. You can sew the ends of the cover as you like - sew the bottom seam several times from the wrong side, or cut out a round bottom separately and sew it into the lower part of the cover. Unscrew the finished cover, place it inside the ski and tighten the fasteners.
