Conversion of the radio to increase the power output or exceed the specified range is prohibited. But a pocket radio station still has something to remake for a home craftsman. Simple modifications will significantly increase the convenience of using the station.

How to remake a walkie-talkie

It is necessary

  • - screwdriver;
  • - soldering iron;
  • - solder;
  • - neutral flux;
  • - tweezers;
  • - nippers;
  • - LEDs;
  • - resistors;
  • - wires.

Instructions

Step 1

Before reworking, turn off the power of the radio. Disconnect it from the charger, antenna and all accessories, remove the batteries. Using a screwdriver, remove all the screws holding the halves of the case together. Sketch where each was located (they can be of different lengths).

Step 2

Open the case carefully. Separate the halves carefully so as not to pull or break the conductors. Also, you can not rotate any cores, stretch and compress frameless coils, change quartz resonators with other frequencies.

Step 3

It is inconvenient to use the radio in the dark if at least some of its controls are not backlit. Take several LEDs of the desired color and the same number of 1 kilo-ohm resistors. Connect each diode in series with a resistor, and connect the resulting chains in parallel to each other and the power supply circuits of the walkie-talkie, observing the polarity.

Step 4

Be sure to connect the LEDs after a switch or a transistor switch that switches power so that the backlight goes out simultaneously with the station shutdown. Position the diodes so that they illuminate the controls and secure them. Make sure that the leads of the diodes and resistors do not short anything.

Step 5

The display indicating the channel number is already highlighted, but often not in the color that the user likes. Replace its backlight diodes with others of the desired color, observing the polarity. If desired, slightly change the values of the resistors through which they are powered to increase or decrease the brightness of the glow.

Step 6

To a walkie-talkie in which a push-to-talk is not provided, such an opportunity can be added. Install two jacks on the case for connecting a computer telephone / microphone headset. To be able to choose between the built-in speaker and microphone of the walkie-talkie and the push-to-talk, put a switch with two rocker groups of contacts.

Step 7

The radio should be designed for an electret microphone. When connecting the latter, observe the polarity. You still have to press the transfer button on the device itself.

Step 8

In a walkie-talkie designed for a dynamic microphone, replace it with a differential type DEMSh or DEM-4M. This will allow you to work comfortably in noisy conditions. The interlocutor will only hear your voice coming into the microphone from one side. Extraneous noise, equally perceived by both sides of the microphone membrane, will be subtracted from each other and not transmitted (that is why it is called differential noise). In a very noisy environment, you can use a laryngophone.

Step 9

Assemble the radio, energize it, connect the antenna and all accessories, and make sure the radio is operational.
