Pointe shoes, or, in other words, ballet shoes, in the form in which they are sold in specialized stores, will surely raise a question from the layman inexperienced in ballet: how do they keep on the ballerina's feet, how do they tie pointe shoes? After all, they have no strings!
Instructions
Step 1
Pointe shoes do not have any ties, laces or ribbons. This is done so that the ballerina or dresser can sew ribbons of the desired color to the pointe shoes themselves. Their choice usually depends on the color of leggings in which the ballerina performs a particular dance. Ribbons are matched to them. Often, even the pointe shoes themselves are painted in the same color as the leggings in order to visually lengthen the ballerina's leg and so that the multicolored leggings, ribbons and pointe shoes do not distract the viewer from his most important occupation - contemplating the beauty of the dance. But this applies to performances on stage, and ribbons of any color are suitable for rehearsals.
Step 2
Ribbons for pointe shoes should be chosen not only by color, but also by some other indicators. First, the quality. Make sure the tape is tight and strong enough. Silk ribbons work well. Secondly, the width. It should be 3, 5–4 cm, no more and no less, so that too wide tape does not hinder movements, and too narrow does not cut into the leg.
Step 3
Cut four pieces of about 30 cm each from the skein of tape. The extra centimeters can then be cut off. Burn the ends of the tape over the fire so that they do not bloom. Take the pointe shoes and bend the back of it like an old worn-out sneaker. Sew tapes to the right and left in the folds.
Step 4
You can put on pointe shoes while sitting or standing. Put the pointe on your leg. Place your foot on the toe. Cross the bands in front and wrap them around your ankle. Cross the ribbons a second time at the back and guide the ribbons back to the front. Tighten the straps tight enough, but not excessively, so that they do not cut hard into your leg. Tie the ribbons in a blind knot on the inside of your ankle and hide the ends of the ribbon so they don't get in the way under your feet.
Step 5
Now lower your foot to the heel and check how comfortable you are, whether you need to loosen the knot or, on the contrary, pull it tighter. If you are satisfied with the result, do the same with the second pointe.
