Admiring the beauty and grace of ballerinas, few of the audience imagine how difficult it is to stand and dance on pointe. Pointe shoes are special shoes for ballet, and it is quite difficult to choose them yourself, without professional advice.

Instructions

Step 1

Try to match the size of your pointe shoes. Put on your shoe and stand on your half-toes. If in this position the heel sags and the box does not sit tightly, then the pointe shoes are too big for you. If the pointe shoes fall off the heel, you need a smaller shoe size.

Step 2

When choosing the size of pointe shoes, pay attention to their width. If the fingers "dangle", the ballerina begins to transfer the weight of the body to the big toe, which causes acute pain in it. Choose pointe shoes, in which the box will fit snugly to the leg and fix the position of the foot and toes. At the same time, it may seem to the little ballerina that the shoes are too small for her - after all, pointe shoes are quite tough, this is unusual after ordinary shoes. But the rigidity of the box and its tight contact with the leg will ensure the correct position of the foot, and hence the health of the little dancer.

Step 3

However, you can still adjust the stiffness of the pointe shoes. Modern companies that produce dance shoes have a line of stiffness and have different insoles on it. Their designations can be found on the sole of the pointe shoes. There are several types of hardness: hard (H), medium (M) and soft (S). Sometimes you can find super soft (SS) and super hard (SH) insoles in stores. When choosing an insole, contact your dance teacher: these issues should be resolved individually for each ballerina.

Step 4

Pointe shoes differ in the heel: it is high, medium and low. A well-chosen heel should fit snugly and comfortably.

Step 5

Please refer to the size chart when choosing a pair of pointe shoes. It is made up of such individual indicators as pointe shoes, model, fullness (1, 2, 3), lifting height, finger dividers and the individual characteristics of the dancer. In this case, the length of the foot is best measured with a ruler, standing on it with bare feet. Measure the exact distance between your longest toe and heel.
