A summer hat will help keep your dog's eyes out of the bright sun and protect against heatstroke while walking. A bright hat is easy to make, it does not take much time and effort.
It is necessary
- - corduroy (jeans);
- - cotton (linen) fabric;
- - threads;
- - braid, thin cord;
- - non-woven (cardboard, thin plastic).
Instructions
Step 1
Before sewing a hat, you need to take measurements from the dog's head. Measure the volume of the wider part of the head, starting from the middle of the forehead and continuing along the zygomatic arches in front of the ears.
Step 2
Next, determine the volume of the head by the protruding superciliary arches passing under the chin. The width of the cap is the length from the interorbital cavity (across the forehead) to the occipital protuberance.
Step 3
Make patterns for the head of the hat with a dart and a visor according to the template. Prepare a suitable fabric. In this version, corduroy was used for the inner part of the cotton fabric.
Step 4
Place the patterns on the fabric, trace along the contour, do not forget to leave a 1 cm allowance. Cut out all the elements. You should get: one piece of the head part from corduroy and lining fabric, two parts of the visor from corduroy fabric.
Step 5
Make a visor. Glue the non-woven fabric to the bottom part with an iron. With the right sides folded together, place the machine stitch in a semicircle, leaving the bottom open. Turn it out.
Step 6
If there is no non-woven fabric inside the visor, insert cardboard or thin plastic, cut out in advance according to the template. Run a finishing stitch along the edge of the visor.
Step 7
On the details of the head part of the cap (from corduroy and lining fabric), sew darts, starting from the cut of the part and the wide end of the dart.
Step 8
Next, align the top piece with the lining fabric, fold the outside to the inside, and sew on a sewing machine. Sew a double visor to the head, then connect it to the lining.
Step 9
Sew a braid or lace on the hat, adjust the length to the size of the dog's head.
