Films often have subtitles. They represent the textual accompaniment of the video material, moreover, either in the language in which the film is dubbed, or in a foreign language. The presence of subtitles is especially appreciated by people with hearing impairments. However, in some countries, subtitles are provided by translators who broadcast the film or program into the viewers' native language.

Download a subtitling software from the Internet, for example, DivXG400. Install it on your computer and use the Microsoft Windows Media Player to open the video.

Step 2

Make sure the program is loaded (a blue icon should appear in the reminder column). Right-click on the context menu of this shortcut and select DixXG400.

Step 3

Left-click on the DixXG400, which will open a window allowing you to make further settings.

Step 4

Go to the "Subtitles" tab. Fill in the “Search” field, indicating the directory to the folders in which the subtitles for this video are located.

Step 5

Make the “In use” setting by specifying the name of the subtitle file used in the movie.

Step 6

Adjust the "Delay" display of subtitles. This value is measured in milliseconds. If the value is with a minus sign, then the subtitles will be slightly ahead of the action or speech, and if you specify a positive value, then lag behind.
