Instructions
Step 1
Download VirtualDub and Subtitle Workshop programs and install them on your computer. These programs will be needed to further combine video with subtitles.
Step 2
If the subtitles you downloaded are in Unicode, convert them to Windows-1251 encoding. To do this, first open the subtitles in the text editor "Notepad", then go through the following "route": menu File - Save As. When saving, do not change the file name, only change the encoding by selecting Encoding, and then ANSI. Save your changes by clicking Save. When asked whether you really need to overwrite the file, select the answer "Yes". Close the text editor after the done work.
Step 3
Synchronize subtitles and video. To do this, upload your edited subtitles to Subtitle Workshop software. After that, press the key combination Ctrl + A (to select subtitles), and then the key combination Ctrl + Z (to set the first subtitle to position 0). Load the video into the program and run it by pressing the combination Ctrl + Q. Watch the video carefully: as soon as the actor starts speaking the first line, stop the video and look at the counter. Then type the keyboard shortcut Ctrl + D and select the offset position with the "+" sign in the window that opens (the offset value for the subtitles corresponds to the time value on the counter that you fixed).
Step 4
Check the result: play the beginning, middle and end of the video and make sure that the subtitles match the phrases of the movie.
