There are many ways to convert color photography to black and white. The options offered by Photoshop differ in both the complexity of the execution and the quality of the result obtained. Consider a method that is available to an inexperienced Photoshop user, but at the same time allows you to get a decent image.

Instructions
Step 1
Open the photo you will be working on. To do this, select File from the main menu, and then the Open item. In the dialog box that opens, select the file in which the photo is located, click on it, and then on the Open button.
Step 2
Select Image from the main menu, then select Adjustments and open the Channel mixer tool.
Step 3
In the dialog box that opens, check the Monochrome checkbox.
Step 4
Set the values of all three channels (Red, Green, Blue) so that they add up to 100%. It may take some time to find the optimal ratio.
Step 5
When you are satisfied with the result after experimenting with the channel values, click OK to save your creation.
