Mold belongs to the Kingdom of Mushrooms and is probably familiar to everyone. In order to see it, you do not need to go to the forest, you just need to forget to consume the product in time - and bright colonies of mold fungi will grow on it. However, if you want to grow the mold in the shortest possible time, it needs to be able to grow.

It is necessary

  • - agar-agar;
  • - potatoes;
  • - bread;
  • - salted cucumbers;
  • - tomato paste;
  • - jam;
  • - sour cream;
  • - blue cheese.

Instructions

Step 1

Traditionally, in laboratories, a culture medium for growing molds is made from agar-agar. You can repeat this at home. Cut raw unpeeled potatoes into cubes and cook for thirty minutes over low heat. Filter the resulting broth, then put on fire and add agar-agar from a bag to it (you can buy it in a regular store, since it is also used in cooking). After the powder has completely dissolved, the medium is ready. You can add mold that has developed on another object to the nutrient medium - here it will grow much faster, or you can wait until it appears naturally in the agar.

Step 2

You've probably noticed how mold grows on bread that has lain a few days longer than it should have been. If you want to speed up this process, first sprinkle the bread with water and tie the bag tightly. Place the bun in a warm place out of sunlight and wait for the harvest. If you want to grow black mold, it is better to choose white bread.

Step 3

If you have unnecessary jars with leftover pickles, preserves, or tomato paste, you can grow mold in this fertile soil. It will be enough to stir the contents with a dirty spoon, close the jar and leave it in a warm place. The result will not be long in coming.

Step 4

Mold, like other fungi, can be propagated with mycelium. Place a small piece of noble blue cheese on a plate, pour over sour cream and leave on the table at room temperature. In such an environment, molds will develop very quickly.

Step 5

If your mold has turned black, don't be discouraged. At the tips of the mycelium there are spore pods. When they are ripe, the bolls open in order to disperse the spores around. If this happened to your molds, then the colony will soon grow.
