Masks help a person transform into someone else, not necessarily even a person. Having put on the appropriate mask, you can become an animal, a cartoon character, and even a spirit of ancestors. The mask gives a person the opportunity to take a break from everyday life, unwind and try on some other image. Many countries have their own holidays when everyone puts on masks. These are various Carnivals, Halloween and, of course, the New Year. In this article, we will show you how you can draw one of these masks yourself.

Instructions

Step 1

Decide which spirit mask you will paint. You can depict the spirits of fire, rain, wind, leopard, or create a mask for the spirit of good luck and well-being. If you have decided on the spirit, proceed to the drawing.

Step 2

Draw a sketch of your mask on a thin piece of paper. Think about what shape the mask will have, whether it will resemble the outlines of a human face, or it will be the face of an animal, with horns and ears.

Step 3

Draw holes for the eyes, nose and mouth. Now start thinking about patterns that will decorate the mask.

Step 4

Divide the mask into two halves, on one half draw your intended patterns. The mask will look richer if the lines of the pattern intersect with each other, creating an ornate weave.

Step 5

Take a thick sheet of paper and transfer your sketch to it. To do this, just put an A4 sheet on the sketch and lean them against the glass. If it's already dark outside the window, you can use the kitchen door, behind which the light is on, to copy the drawing.

Step 6

Start painting the patterns. Use only two colors, some can be left white and some can be painted black. Thus, there should be no more than four colors on the mask. Color one half of the mask first.

Step 7

Color in the other half of the mask, but swap the colors. Where it was black, make it white. Change the colored markers in the same way.

Step 8

Cut out the mask, if desired, punching holes for the eyes, nose, and mouth. You can attach an elastic band to the mask or string to make it easier to wear. The mask is ready!
