Medusa is a seemingly ephemeral creature. Therefore, it is not so easy to "catch" it with a pencil or brush. When drawing a jellyfish, you will have to abandon clear contours and replace them with translucent outlines.

It is necessary

  • - paper;
  • - watercolor pencil;
  • - acrylic paint;
  • - brush;
  • - palette.

Instructions

Step 1

Take a sheet of tinted paper. The best for such a pattern is indigo pastel paper, A5 format. Since the color of the water around the jellyfish is uneven, the background needs to be slightly tweaked. Mix a shade of blue on the palette that is slightly darker than the color of the paper. Dampen the sheet with clean water using a brush. While the sheet is not dry, scoop up the prepared paint with a wide brush and apply horizontal lines to the lower half of the base. Try to fill the background so that the color falls evenly, without noticeable boundaries between strokes. Wait for the paper to dry. If it is slightly warped, after drying, place it under the press for a couple of hours.

Step 2

Divide the space of the paper into 4 equal parts mentally. With a white watercolor pencil, draw a point, stepping back from the center of the sheet to the lower right quarter. Here is the top of the jellyfish "dome". Stepping back up to the left, outline the border of the "dome". Draw an ellipse with a pencil, but draw short strokes rather than a solid line.

Step 3

From the bottom point, draw oval "petals" radiating from the center, which are layered on top of each other. Make their contours wavy. Draw thin veins on the inside of the jellyfish on the left, following the shape of the body. Then extend these lines, bending them in the opposite direction - these are the tentacles of the jellyfish. They should be lighter at the ends than at the edge of the "dome".

Step 4

Take white acrylic paint. Dilute it with water to a watercolor state. Apply this color to the right side of the picture - the outside of the jellyfish. Slightly blur the paint, creating a more transparent streak along the outline of the "dome".

Step 5

Having diluted the whitewash even more, paint over the inner side of the jellyfish. Pay attention to the fact that on the right side of the “dome” there are white clumps, diverging in stripes from the center to the edges. Add dots of different sizes and brightness with white paint around the main object of the drawing.
