A blind stitch is sewn by hand to seamlessly join parts of the garment. Its peculiarity is that the stitches are not visible on the outside of the finished garment. Thus, you can sew parts of soft toys, lining with the main fabric, do neat hand hemming, and more. This work is painstaking, it requires precision and accuracy. It is recommended to learn how to sew a blind stitch first on fabric samples, after which you can start basic sewing.

It is necessary

  • - Working fabric;
  • - threads and needles;
  • - tailor's pins;
  • - scissors.

Instructions

Step 1

Hem over the edge of the woven sample. For better fixation, pin the folded hem with pins perpendicular to the line of the future blind seam. Insert the needle from the inside out and make a thin, inconspicuous knot.

Step 2

Sew one needle-forward stitch on the hem and pull the thread. Now you need to be very careful not to pull the surface of the fabric, grab one thread of the main fabric with the needle and carefully tighten it. Repeat the stitches until the end of the work, but turn the stitch over from time to time and make sure that there are no noticeable tied threads on the outside.

Step 3

Join with a blind seam the parts of soft toys: To do this, pierce the fabric from the wrong side and pull the needle over the "face" of the work. Then on the front of one piece, you need to make one stitch.

Step 4

Repeat the exact same stitch on the face of the other piece to be sewn. After that, you should tighten the thread well (avoiding wrinkles and gathers on the canvas!).

Step 5

Sew very short stitches so that the outside of the seams of the parts are completely invisible. After finishing the hand stitch to the end, make a knot, while picking up a small piece of the canvas with the needle. Some needlewomen use a little trick: they pull the thread on the wrong side of the product along the seam line, or through a part of the part with padding. Only then is the thread cut at the needle exit point.
