It is unlikely that the retro style of Evgenia Tezhetova, the pioneer, songwriter and only soloist of the Moscow group "Salut" (2008), could touch the hearts of the broad masses. And yet, in her short life, she managed to convey the most important thing to her true fans: a clear, piercing, light sounding voice combined with an organic arrangement. Her appearance on the modern scene was called a real reincarnation of the 60s.

As life itself shows, the brighter the talent, the shorter the biography. Evgenia Alekseevna Tezhetova was born in Ashgabat (Turkmenistan) on July 17, 1969, and on November 20, 2013, she died. By this time, Zhenya was already a poetess, composer, arranger, professional vocalist, creator of his own group and its soloist.

When Zhenya was asked how it all began, she joked that she began to prepare for a solo career right after birth, haunting her parents at night. However, this fact applies to absolutely all newborns. And yet, the musical ability was clearly there. Hence the visit to the music school, and participation in the school choir.

It is no secret that in childhood any additional load, in addition to studying in a general education school, is perceived as a punishment. Zhenya had the same feeling. But after graduation, the choice definitely falls on the music school at the Moscow P. I. Tchaikovsky. From 1986 to 1990, she received her education there at the theoretical department.

This musical education of Evgenia Tezhetova does not end there. This is followed by studies at the Moscow State Institute of Culture and Art until 1997, after which she becomes a professional vocalist. Therefore, we can conclude that Evgenia entered the modern stage by no means an amateur.

Creativity, and more creativity

Alas, many contemporaries managed to get acquainted with the work of Evgenia Tezhetova after her death. How did you miss such an opening? Why do we find out about her talent so late? Meanwhile, Zhenya was always there. She collaborated with many musical groups, gradually maturing to create her own group.

Her voice can be heard in one of the albums "Time Machine" (2001) - "The place where the light". Since 2003, Evgenia has been working in the Moscow collective "Zaliv Kita" under the leadership of Ivan Burlachko-Shumidub, where she plays keyboards, is the author of vocal parts and a backing vocalist. At the same time, he writes music for advertising, films.

It is difficult to say in what style the band is playing. Since its inception (1997), she has repeatedly reincarnated, changing her lineup, both performers and a set of instruments. But the main thing is live music, where the trip-hop taken as a basis gradually led to funk, disco, and then to Afro-Latin motives. Therefore, more often the team performed not on television, but at youth festivals, in clubs.

What is called "non-format" is very close to Evgenia Tezhetova. She never cared where to perform. It is important to do what you like. While working in the "Bay of the Whale", together with Ivan Burlachko and Alexei Samoilenko (the leader of the group), Evgenia worked on the soundtrack for the cartoon "Elka and the Star Postman" (2004), "Elka" (2006).

In the same period (2006), the same forces (Burlachko, Samoilenko, Tejetova) organized an experimental trio-cabaret project "Los Lavandos". The authors themselves called the style of performance "in the spirit of aesthetic cannibalism," where the latter concept implies extermination, a merciless violation of all existing taboos in music.

In 2006-2007, Evgeniya Tezhetova collaborated with the retro jazz ensemble "Avokado Band". And again experiments. In the foreign press of that time, you can find the formulation of their style as "Russian and American swing music". The members of the ensemble are actually engaged in mixing different musical styles of the mid-20th century: jazz, blues, swing, rock and roll, country.

"Salute" by Evgeniya Tezhetova

In 2008, Evgenia Tedzhetova, by that time already an experienced vocalist, composer, poetess, producer, creates her own musical group, which takes the short but sonorous name "Salute". His musical direction is defined not just as "retro", but with the prefix "new or neo". And this is true. After all, Zhenya did not copy, did not re-sing the songs of Kristallinskaya, Mondrus, Miansarova, Veshchinskaya, with whom she was compared.

She sang as she felt. And she felt very subtly the musical era of the 60s. The author of the lyrics and music was Evgenia Khedzhetova herself. A real sensation was made by the song "Moscow", released in May 2010, which was performed at one of the New Year's "Lights" and informally began to be called the anthem of the capital. However, most often Tejetova's songs were played on the radio.

And the same "Moskva" sounded for the first time on the air of the radio station "Maximum", but in just a year it gained more than 700 rotations on various radio stations. "Salut" was created from members of several groups. There were representatives from Cabernet Deneuve, Whale's Bay, End of the Film, W. K, Masha and the Bears. The five-year experience of the group resulted in a large album called "Moscow-Moon-Jupiter" (2012).

And even while working in "Salute" Evgenia Tezhetova cooperation with other teams is not alien. So, it can be heard on the 2012 disc of the group "Immigrantes" with the song "Hidden Motive". Along with this, she experimented a lot with Indian music and performed solo soulful ballads with a guitar. All this still had to go out to the public, but the life of a talented singer was cut short …

Was there a personal life?

It is difficult to separate the creative life of Zhenya Tezhetova from her personal one. After her death at the age of 44, two children remained. Son Daniel from his first marriage. The year of his birth is 1997, when she just graduated from the Institute of Culture and Art and took up her career. In a second marriage with Ivan Burlachko-Shumidub, a daughter, Masha, was born (2004). They were connected with Ivan by close, fruitful, joint work both in the "Bay of the Whale" and in organizing other musical projects.

It is clear that for such a creative duet of husband and wife, the work continues within the walls of the house. As a rule, at the peak of new ideas, rehearsals, experiments, health does not count. On November 17, 2013, there was a sudden attack of liver failure. Fans of the singer's talent and relatives urgently began raising funds to connect an artificial organ. But Zhenya did not come out of a coma, she died on November 20 of the same year, without regaining consciousness. She was buried in Moscow, at the Alekseevsky cemetery.
